Copilot Chat in Business Central

𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲! I finally tested Copilot Chat in a US-based Business Central environment👇

My first take – I am truly impressed🤯 by Copilot Chat potential, and here are a few guidelines about how to use it:

1️⃣ Prompts must be specific. For instance, when asking for top sales, you must prompt Posted Sales Invoices; otherwise, it will show (unposted) Sales Invoices.

2️⃣ It can only display up to 3 records, so don’t waste time asking for your top 10 customers.

3️⃣ It has some “biases”. Sorting is always ascending unless prompted otherwise. An invoice is always understood to be a (unposted) Sales Invoice, not a Purchase Invoice nor a Posted Sales Invoice.

Here are my prompts and the results, noting that my Work Date was 4/8/2024 (April 8th, 2024)

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭 #𝟏: Show me the top 10 Posted Sales Invoices sorted by Due Date.
𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: A list of 3 Posted Sales Invoices sorted ascending by Due Date (ascending = earliest due date shows first) 👍

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭 #𝟐: Show me the top 10 Posted Sales Invoices sorted Descending by Due Date”.
𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: It listed 3 Posted Sales Invoices sorted descending by Due Date 👍

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭 #𝟑: Show me the 3 highest value Posted Sales Invoices sorted by Due Date.
𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: I got the exact same list as for Prompt #2. It looks like it cannot assess multiple sorting criteria (value and due date), and it only used the last one – 𝒅𝒖𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆 to compile the result👎

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭 #𝟒: Show me the top 3 unpaid Posted Sales Invoices sorted by Value.
𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: The correct list of invoices I was trying to get with the previous prompt👍

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭 #𝟓: Show me the first Posted Sales Invoice that will become overdue.
𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: I got the first invoice to become overdue after my work date – I am surprised I got the correct response👍

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭 #𝟔: Show me the second Posted Sales Invoice that will become overdue.
𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: I got the correct response again and was even more surprised. 👍

A 5-to-1 result is a good outcome for a quick test, and I look forward to Copilot Chat being available Down Under.
